Abstract

This investigation aims to understand the conception of culture proposed by the local press based on cultural journalism. We will try to make a proposal for the analysis of local culture in its media representation. The Political Economy of Communication (PEC) allows us to observe the extensive model of culture, which in turn enable us to dictate whether this adheres to commercial canons. With this method it is also possible to link the cultural representation in the local press around the media and power structures.
