Abstract

This article reconstruct the place that a part of Colombian intellectuals, who could be called progressives, gave to violence as an instrument of political action, in the period between 1985 and today. It notes how among them the apologists for violence as a creative agent of a new order decreased, but how that attitude did not give rise to an absolute rejection of it, since it became justified as a guarantor of some essential changes, which in the normal way supposedly they weren't possible.
