Abstract

On December 31, 2022 shortly after 10:30 AM, the Vatican announced the death at the Mater Ecclesiae in Vatican City (VA) of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI at the age of ninety-five (95), who was the 265th Pope of the Catholic Church and the seventh sovereign of the VA. The pontiff had been fading over time for several years after his resignation from the papacy on February 28, 2013. After his decision, the argentine cardinal and Jesuit Jorge Mario Bergoglio, currently S.S. Pope Francisco.
