The possibilities of sports in Physical Education from the perspective of Gustavo Bueno's philosophical materialism

The objective of this article is to point out the implications of the concept of sport through the philosophical materialism of Gustavo Bueno in his work Essay of a philosophical definition of the Idea of Sport. From this perspective, Bueno concludes that there is no univocal idea of sport, but rather that we are faced with a concept on which various meanings have been deposited according to the physical, political, social, or religious objective attributed to sport. This conceptual diversity enables the Physical Education teacher to use sport as a pedagogical medium, fitting it in different ways in their planning. The main conclusion is that sport can be used not only from the perspective focused on the practice of sport itself, with its rules and movements, or with only physical activity as its objective, but it can also be used in relation to other areas of physical education such as body language or popular sports. In relation to the state of Ecuador, the Physical Education curriculum generates spaces to think about Physical Education from the interdisciplinary nature of its fields and not only from the strictly sports.
